 blast from past
I know I shouldn't double-post, and I won't do it again, but this is the best of its kind: http://www.stableroad.com/videos/wtehistory.htm

 Re: blast from past
Yeh this is a great clip, the essence, soul or spirit of windsurfing and longboard's created it.

 Re: blast from past
Great clip...I fully agree. I was also there in Berkeley with Mike W. when Robbie showed up. We thought we were hot shit, we even were testing a new custom board that morning and there was a lot of attention on it when this little blonde kid arrives on the dock with his board & sail, gives us a brief look, then steps off the dock onto his board, leaving the dock going backwards on a rail ride, we all stopped and watched in amazement. I remember following him out to the race course each day and trying to keep up with him. He was unbelievably fast! Boy, those were the days. I wish I could go back in time and do it all over again!

 Re: blast from past
There's still plenty of fun to be had, that's the good thing about windsurfing.
I leave the "I'm too good for the wind" people on the shore, and I practice freestyle (still), I teach my son and newbies whenever I can. I also give pointers to beginners on the water and direct people towards their first purchase.
All this prepares me for stronger winds and my custom short board. So everybody wins. No regrets - was fun then, still is fun now. Longboards and attitude allow that.
