Post Mistral Malibu tech info
Sorry for the cross posting. [iwindsurf.com]

Last weekend I bought my first long board. It's a Mistral Malibu LCS. It's labeled as made in "W. Germany". The sailor that sold it to me says it dates to 1985???

Admittedly, the purpose was for my wife to do paddle surf when I'm not in the water with my formula.
However, I'm very curious to ride this long board. I'm fascinated by the way they glide at speed as well as the power of the big sails.

How is this board for slalom race on lakes?
How does this board differs from the Equipe?
What sail size ?

This was one of those neither fish nor foul boards of that era. A scaled down equipe that needs quite a lot of wind to get it up and moving. Dagger board gaskets were notoriously poorly place and created fountains while planing. Stuff the slot with a closed cell foam, and seal the gasket shut? Just a thought.

Saw the latest Malibu at Surf Show 08. It's a very blocky hull by compare. It'll be interesting to try one.....
