sail for a longboard that works...Ezzy Zephyr
I have a 1998 Mistral Equipe,I have always used cambered race sails,I have tried camless sails, not enough Performance or power,so I was a little skeptical about trying the new Ezzy Zephyr camless sail,it is a 7.5,and only comes in a 7.5,cause a 7.5 is all you need!. When I went out it was NE at 6-7 mph,not planning, but not slow, picked up to 11-12,now I was planning! Without a doubt this sail has the lowend power of an 8.5. I have used 8.5 on my Equipe,in fact the 8.5 that one magazine said had the most low end of all those that they tested. The Zephyr had the same low end. The Zephyr is easy to sail, light, and stable in the gusts. I could not believe that I was sailing a camless sail. The Zephyr is also good in medium to strong wind, but light wind is its strong point. Try one,you wont be disappointed!

Thanks for the link. It is a shame that it does not come in any sizes bigger than 7.5.

Hi Pat The zephyr in 7.5 ia all you need,as I stated in my first post on the ezzy zephyr,it has the same low end power as an 8.5. Recently I was out in SE 9 mph,I was on a plane for about 30 seconds then wind dropped to about 3 mph there were 2 laser sailboats out there stopped going nowhere,I tacked and sailed back to the beach, the Zephyr is an incredable sail james

James, I guess a 100kg sailor would still benefit from a different size to a 60kg, in the exact same conditions.

Thanks for posting this James. Been wondering how the Zephyr would do as a replacement for my aging Neil Pryde Shock 7.0, and think you've convinced me that it would do nicely. Cheers, rickp

Re: sail for a longboard that works...Ezzy Zephyr
www.Aerotechsails.com has had three long board specific sails for quite some time. The Zenith would be the closest to the Zephyr in the camless catagory. A very straightened luff curve allows for tons of low end power that long boards require at times. Down haul it for very light to very strong winds. I'm only inserting this thought since the Ezzy fans sound as if their sails are the one and only alternative....

Does this sail also work in very light wind? Noticed on Ezzy's website (rigging .pdf) that the battens are lying behind the mast without wind pressure, se sketch on the pdf. Or: How much wind does it take to strech out the luff?
