Well here is a reply i made to someone who thinks that both the Warp X and Phantom are pants.

I have owned and sailed XR Equipe, F2 original lightning, Fanatic Ultra and Mega Cats. Now i have the Warp-X and loving it.

In the days i had the old raceboards, we were limited by sails of 7.5 and 8.5, today i can use a 10.6 and it makes a big difference. My opinion for the old raceboards was that the Fanatic was perhaps the most rounded competitive board, the XR equipe the most fun and maybe the fastest in stronger winds. I would think that in light to moderate winds the 2 boards that you mention would have a slight edge, but the old boards would still be quite competitive.

The Warp-X is a new and unique design and from the looks, the Phantom might be along the lines of the later F2
Hopefully someone will post more details on the Phantom

"I have been using the Warp-X380 for almost a year now and always on the sea.

I never had a problem with the track, it is far superior to any of the tracks i had on Fanatic's Equipes etc. etc. It moves easily and locks easily, cant ask for more.

Same goes for the dagger(and you get 2!) at first it was stiff due to the gasket, but after a coating of dry lube and a few days of use it works just fine. Again i would say that the operation is as good or better than any i have used in the past.

In light winds, the Warp X-380 is just superb, rumour is it has the edge of all the longboards.

Last week i was using it in a massive storm, sail was a 10.6 and wind was up to around 20k. The sea was pretty rough and many a shortboarder could not cope with the conditions. I had the tail off and i must say that the board performed way beyond expectations. Not once did i have to worry about the tracking of the board in the waves, swell and chop, only focusing on holding the pig of a rig. Speed and control were excellent.

Ok, being ex Cobra it's a bit too heavy, the gasket came un-glued in this storm(first time after nearly a year) but other than that i am pretty satisfied with its performace against any other board i have owned.

So in my opinion it has excellent light and marginal wind performane and enough strong wind performace. It's one area of weakness may be in winds which are variable between not planing, marginal planing and full on. For the first 2 you need the tail on, the latter the tail off".

Thanks ian,

could you precise your weight and size?
I sail in the caribean, and waves are usual, no problem in these conditions with the square front of the warp x?

like you, I hope to have a report from a phantom owner...

The Warp-X does have a flat nose/rocker and in rough seas and very light wind takes a bit of time to work out how to keep the nose from ploughing, especially off the wind.

Once the wind increases a little, keeping the board railed makes it much easier.

In planing conditions the nose is well clear on a reach, off-wind and upwind on the dagger.

I guess each board has it strong and weak points.

I am 90-92Kg, 1.81m
