Post Mistral Equipe vs Panam
Can anyone explain the difference between the Mistral Equipe and the Mistral Pan-am?

Thanks for the comprehensive feedback - a very well written summary. I like the looks of that Pan-Am.

Here is a 1983 picture of the Mistral team with the original Mistral PanAm.

You can see Karl Messmer, Robby Naish, Marie-Annick Maus, and others... Image

Memories - I recall, as a we tacker in 1984 having that very model of Pan am – it was quick.

I bought a new Mistral Equipe to race in the 1986 Hi-Ho regatta in the US and British Virgin Islands. This can't be the same board that was introduced in 1989 (which was later sold in the USA as the IMCO Mistral One Design - I had one of those too. Actually two of them). The 1986 version had a wing pin tail and 4 concaves - a little unusual compared to later boards.

Does anyone remember the dimensions of the 1986 Equipe? I ask because I'm looking for a new long board and I think it may have been my all time favorite.

Thanks - TX5

I've got an 1987 equipe, which is the same I think; its 372 long 64 wide and a volume of about 210 - 215L. Whereabouts are you, because I'm actually wanting to sell it.

Thanks for the Equipe dimensions. I'm in Texas (hence the sail number) but I don't actually want my old Equipe again; I am trying to figure out which modern board is right. Any opinion? I think the 230 liter boards are going to be uncomfortably large for me.
