Post Goofing around on a windsurfer.
Hey guys, it's been a tough summer wind-wise here in part of the Great Lakes. But I still went out a lot, both screwing around, breaking bits, and sailing with me mongrel (13yo).

Here a clip I put together of generally goofing around on a Windsurfer in average winds. Too bad, all those guys missing on the (sometimes bone-breaking) action. When the wind does pick up, I am more prepared for shorter boards freestyle (Exocet).

Better quality:

Low-qual:

Enjoy, I hope. Have a laugh.

Hey pierrec45,
Nice freestyle moves!!! You rock dude !!

That front side to back side on the rail was really well done, :o I am impressed.

So how many bruises and scrapes did you come away with? :D

I remember many, many days of great sailing fun doing freestyle. I too should break out my old windsurfer and give it spin. Problem is, all the inevitable injuries will take longer to heal now in my old age ;D

Hey teak-boy, thanks!

From those latest clips, only a few shin scrapes - no biggie, she'll be right. I find I get more benefits - more water time, time with my son, general shape - than if I was sitting on the side and waiting. In particular, my back-to-front on a 100liter board has improved by longboarding ! I'm trying to get flicks on this, as I used to jump waves like that - pretty crazy.

Injuries over the years? Lots, including one full shoulder reconstruction, crotch (see http://broadbandsports.com/node/11059&loc=mostpop), a few concussions from missed backflips and back loops, from landing on the board, and knees and back, bone chipping on the tibias and elbows, and so on.

But this is all a bit extreme and stupid. Most freestyle is fun and safe, basic railrides are safe too, plus lotsa benefits.

From vulcans and spocks and whatnot on the freeride board, I get mainly ankle twists, usually minor.

Age? You don't wanna know... Missus says me problem is the mileage, not the age.
