Post Newbie here
Hello all. I hope you guys don't mind a Yank joining in. I was doing some research on Mistral Superlights and came across Longboard Windsurfing and I thought that the site looked great.

I have been a long-time long board windsurfer. After seeing the Larry Stanley poster from Windsurfing Hawaii of Larry jumping a wave on a Windsurfer Classic, I was hooked. I got into the windsurfing biz in 1978 working retail, became a senior certified instructor at Windsurfer International, and the and went to work for Gaastra through 1991. After that point the sport was diving so fast in the US, that I switched careers into the bike business. I did work for BIC Sport for several years as well.

To me, it was a great tragedy that long boards were cast aside for short board sailing. There had to have been a million people in the US that learned how to windsurf. The racing fleets, the Meyers Rum parties, the social aspects, were all so cool. I hope that some smart marketers realize that all of those people already know how to windsurf, they just need good equipment, and an entry level package at a reasonable price. And, they have the skills that they can transfer to their kids.

Anywho, glad to log in here!

Welcome. You are not the only yank here. The things you mentioned brought back memories ... sailing in the Meyers Rum District Championship in 1981. I still have and use my original windsurf sail (I still have the teak booms, but don't sail them), and have replaced the board recently. I still just have a great time sailing this old classic. Some day I will try monofilm, and probably never use my dacron again, but till then. Was down in Hatteras this past weekend, and enjoyed some decent winds ~10mph Saturday ... sunday was better, but I had to leave for home that day. I still owe the board some pictures ... now that my board is repaired, I think I should get some pics posted.

Hey thanks.

I loved sailing the OBX. I usually sailed out of Canadian Hole.
