This is nice. There is always something to be done in all winds.

Nice clip. Aside from being great practice for board handling and race starts, this kind of activity is also a surprisingly good workout.

Well, maybe not this one, but in general, yes you're right.

I'm trying to borrow a good shockproof, waterproof heart monitor to write an article on heart rate when freestyling on various boards and various conditions. In 12-15 knot range on an old triangular Windsurfer equipment, freestyling takes me very quickly to 150. Then I have to pace myself by doing "push" moves instead of normal sailing, in order to rest the biceps.

Anyways, a future article I hope.

Back to that clip: his skills will improve for when the wind picks up (and he's already very very good), whilst the others would be on the side moping. Great stuff.

I wear a heart rate monitor every time I sail.

When I course race in light winds (where heavy pumping is required), my heart rate can average 165 for over 2 hours. This is at about the same level as when I'm running fairly hard (although I rarely run for more than an hour).

My heart rate varies based on wind conditions. Moderate winds are relatively relaxing.

Windsurfing is good aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
